Greely is a rural community on the south side of Ottawa, and the homes are mostly on large lots, often with big garages that double as shops. Plenty of households have work trucks, vans, trailers or toys that need a tall door. That shapes the garage door problems we see, and we repair garage doors across Greely.
Send a photo, or call 613-265-3667 and tell us what the door is doing. You get a flat-rate price first.

A van with a roof rack, a lifted truck or a loaded trailer will clip the top of a garage door more often than you'd expect. It usually happens when the door is only partway up, and the opener keeps going. The result is a bent top panel, a kinked track section or a roller knocked loose. If you've hit the door, stop using it. Don't press the button again to see if it still works. A door that's been struck may be hanging on one track.
See off-track repair for what a knocked-out track involves. If the damage is limited to one section and the door is a common type, a panel replacement may work. If several sections are twisted, replacement is often the better choice.
A simple marker on the garage wall, or a parking guide at the vehicle's stopping point, can stop a repeat. It's cheap, and cheaper than a panel.
Many larger garages have doors eight feet tall or more, or oversized double doors. A taller door has more panels, more weight and longer tracks, and it needs springs and cables sized to it. A spring that suits a standard door can leave a taller one poorly balanced. See garage door spring repair for why sizing counts.
A lot of Greely garages are used as workshops, and some are heated. A door in a heated shop should close tight, since air leaking around it costs heat. Worn seals, a door that doesn't sit square, and a drooping bottom edge are common. Wall-mounted openers can free up ceiling space in a workshop, and some tall doors use different lift setups. See opener repair and replacement.
Dust from gravel driveways and sawdust from workshop use settle on sensor lenses and in the tracks. A dirty sensor stops the door from closing, and debris in a track wears rollers. Wiping the lenses and clearing the lower track helps.
Greely residents drive into the city on Bank Street or Highway 416. A door that quits with the vehicle inside, or one that stays open when everyone has left, is a problem you want fixed the same day. See emergency garage door repair.
Rural power outages happen. The manual release lets you lift a closed door, but use it only when the door is fully closed and you don't suspect a broken spring.

Stop using the door. Check for a bent top panel, a kinked track or rollers out of place. Send us photos, and don't run the opener until it's been looked at.
Sometimes, on common doors where matching panels are available. On older or custom doors it often isn't possible. We'll tell you before you spend anything.
Yes. Send photos and the width and height if you know them. Bigger doors need springs and cables matched to their weight.
Often, by replacing the seals and adjusting the door so it seats square. If the door is badly out of shape, we'll say so.
Often, yes. Call 613-265-3667 and we'll tell you the earliest time. Stuck doors get priority.
